Running the Course

Yesterday we decided to run the 15K course for the upcoming Night Sweats Trail Race organized by Pacific Coast Trail Runs. Since the actual race will be run at night, we decided to run it in the daytime in order to ensure there were no surprises. I've actually ran all these trails several times over the last year so I am familiar with most aspects of this course. Overall, I think the race organizer selected good trails for a night course as they are open with fairly non-technical running surfaces.

It was nice to have the Tennessee Valley Trailhead at the half way point and it will also be a support stop for the race. Other than that, there is no water or restrooms on the course so be prepared.

Sharon and I are planning to run this race together and our goal is for it to be totally a fun run with plenty of power hiking up steep grades and stops for photos and other fun along the way.  After running this training run, I am excited now to run this course at night. If the weather is clear it will be fun to see the course markers (glow sticks) and headlights of other runners along the course.

Remember, every run can be an adventure!

Hope to see you on the trail.
