Running Around Emerald Bay at Lake Tahoe
Location: Emerald Bay State Park
Distance: 11 Miles
Elevation Gain: 1,600 ft
Parking: Inspiration Point
Trail: Vikingsholm Trail, Rubicon Trail
We started our run from Inspiration Point parking area. From this vantage point you get a spectacular view across Emerald Bay. From here we ran down the steep Vikingsholm Trail to the Vikingsholm visitor center at the water's edge. From here, we go on the Rubicon trail which took us as much as possible along the water's edge. There are flats, undulating short elevation gains and drops, and twists along some stunning shoreline cliffs. The trail dips into secluded coves, and along easily accessible shorelines in Emerald Bay. All along the way there were spectacular views.
This was a fairly easy run and I highly recommend it if you are ever in the South Lake Tahoe area.
Remember, every run can be an adventure!
Hope to see you on the trail......
